About the Performer

George Ritchie is Head of the Organ Department at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Prior to this appointment he was Chapel Organist at Duke University.

Dr. Ritchie has performed throughout the United States and Europe. He is particularly noted for his interpretations of Bach's organ music and for his ability to incorporate the latest research on Bach's method of performance.

He has studied with Helmut Walcha in Frankfurt and André Isoir in Paris, and was a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow at Harvard University in a seminar on J. S. Bach, under the direction of the Bach scholar Christoph Wolff.
