announce the release of "18th Century Flute Duets: Julius Baker
and Jean-Pierre Rampal" It is likely that you already own a
recording of a performance by Julius Baker and Jean Pierre Rampal,
the material on this vintage recording is commercially re-released
for the first time. In addition to his many solo LPs, Baker played
principal flute on the famed Columbia Broadcasting Symphony (CBS)
Orchestra recordings conducted by Bruno Walter and on the New York
Philharmonic discs of 1965-83, under the baton of Leonard Bernstein.
He is widely considered to be one of the greatest flutists of the
last century and is responsible for bringing a new level of excellence
and artistry to the role of an orchestral flutist. Rampal had a
legendary career and is considered by many as one of the greatest
musicians we have ever heard perform. The disk consists of some
of the favorites of the 18th century flute repertoire. Mr. Baker's
unique sound and flawless technique combined with the effortless
and insightful playing of Jean-Pierre Rampal make this recording
a fine addition to any classical music lovers collection. When released
