Titanic Records is pleased to announce the release of "The Virtuoso Saxophone”, an album containing major works for classical saxophone and orchestra including the Ibert "Concertino da camera" and the Muczynski "Sonata". Saxophonist Don Lefevre is the director of bands and associate professor of saxophone at West Texas A&M University, where he joined the music faculty in 1987. He has served as the principal saxophonist with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra since 1989. In 1991, he was featured in the Koch Records CD recording of La Création du Monde by Darius Milhaud and the Kleine Dreigroschen Musik by Kurt Weill with the Atlantic Sinfonietta Orchestra. He is accompanied by Dr. Jim Rauscher who is Professor of Piano Studies and Chair of the Music Department at Amarillo College, where he joined the music faculty in 1981. Principal keyboardist for the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra since 1981, he has appeared as guest soloist with that orchestra on numerous occasions, and has also appeared as soloist with the Randel Chamber Orchestra, the West Texas State University Band, the Texas Tech University Orchestra,the Texas Tech University Symphonic Band, and the Amarillo Virtuosi of Chamber Music Amarillo.
